The sealed 25-packs are the cheapest way to buy Brivo fobs — about $9.36 each. But tubes have two blind spots, and this fob exists for both. First: quantity. A six-unit building that needs ten fobs shouldn’t have to buy twenty-five. B-SF-Custom is sold by the piece at $11 MSRP — ten fobs cost $110, and nobody pays for plastic that sits in a drawer.

Second, and more interesting: encoding. Standard BUC3 tubes ship in Brivo’s stock 37-bit or 56-bit formats. Some accounts don’t run stock — they carry custom encryption or a specific facility and lot number that off-the-shelf credentials simply can’t join. The custom fob is encoded at the factory to your account’s exact parameters, which is why it’s made to order rather than pulled from a shelf. It lands already speaking your system’s dialect: same 8K DESFire chip as the regular BUC3 line, same encrypted read on any current Brivo Smart Reader.
