Brivo ACS300-E-B — Modern 2-Door Cloud Access Control Panel

The Brivo ACS300-E-B is the modern shipping configuration of Brivo’s flagship 2-door access control panel — a fully cloud-managed controller built around the Brivo Access platform. It replaces the legacy ACS-300 with a refined metal enclosure, integrated WiFi (in addition to Ethernet), expanded reader compatibility through OSDP v2, and battery-backup-ready power input. Designed and shipped from Brivo’s Bethesda, Maryland headquarters, the ACS300-E-B is the controller we install most often at Chicago commercial properties — offices, retail, multi-tenant residential, healthcare clinics, and small-to-mid commercial buildings that want browser-based admin, mobile credentials, and zero on-prem servers.

What’s Inside the Enclosure

The metal enclosure ships ready for wall mounting with security fixings, factory-prepared knockouts for reader and lock wiring, and a tamper switch that reports any unauthorized opening straight to the Brivo Access cloud dashboard. Inside, the main controller board provides clearly labeled terminal blocks for two doors of access — reader inputs, lock outputs, door contacts, request-to-exit, tamper, and auxiliary I/O — plus the network and power inputs that connect the panel to the building infrastructure.

Two Doors per Panel — Scale by Adding More

Each ACS300-E-B manages exactly 2 doors with independent reader inputs, lock-control outputs, and door-status monitoring (door contact, REX, tamper). For buildings with more doors, additional ACS300-E-B panels are added — a typical 8-door commercial property runs 4 panels, all federated under one Brivo Access cloud account with a single admin dashboard. The “panel-per-pair” architecture means you can grow incrementally: start with one ACS300-E-B at the front entry and a service door, then add panels at the rear entry, server room, and amenity floor as the project expands. There is no central head-end to license, upsize, or swap when door counts change.

Network: Ethernet, WiFi, Optional Cellular

The ACS300-E-B includes both wired Ethernet (10/100) and WiFi out of the box — the wired connection is preferred for primary uplink, with WiFi available where running new copper to an IDF closet is impractical (retrofit projects, leased space, historic buildings). For sites that need an out-of-band failover, optional LTE cellular is available as a separate ACS300-E-B-LTE configuration; the cellular channel kicks in automatically when both Ethernet and WiFi are unreachable, and the panel continues to operate doors during the outage using the credentials and schedules cached locally. Doors keep working even when the cloud is unreachable — the panel just queues events and uploads them when connectivity restores.

OSDP v2 + Wiegand Reader Support

The ACS300-E-B reader inputs accept both OSDP v2 (Open Supervised Device Protocol — encrypted, bidirectional, tamper-detecting) and legacy Wiegand for installed-base maintenance. For new Chicago projects we default to OSDP — it eliminates the credential-cloning attacks that plague Wiegand, supports reader health monitoring and tamper alerts, and dramatically reduces wiring (one pair per reader chain). Compatible readers include the full Brivo Smart Reader family (mullion / single-gang / keypad in black and white, plus tri-tech variants for legacy 125 kHz Prox migration), HID Signo, HID iCLASS SE / multiCLASS SE, and any OSDP v2-compliant third-party reader.

Brivo Access Cloud — What Building Managers Actually See

The administrative side of the ACS300-E-B is the Brivo Access cloud dashboard, accessed through any modern browser and the Brivo Access mobile app:

  • Door schedules — define unlocked hours, holiday rules, and per-door access policies
  • User & credential management — issue Brivo Mobile Pass credentials to phones, print or order Brivo physical cards, and revoke credentials instantly
  • Audit trails — every door event timestamped with user identity, available for export and integration with video surveillance
  • Multi-property federation — a single admin account can manage panels across multiple Chicago buildings (great for property managers and multi-site portfolios)
  • Real-time monitoring — door-held-open alerts, door-forced-open alerts, tamper alerts, network-down alerts — pushed to the building manager’s phone
  • Visitor management — issue temporary credentials by SMS or email for contractors, deliveries, and short-term tenants

Where the Brivo ACS300-E-B Fits in Chicago

  • Chicago commercial offices — single-tenant and multi-tenant buildings with 2–20 doors managed centrally
  • Retail back-of-house access for stockroom, manager office, and after-hours service entries
  • Multi-tenant residential — lobby, garage, gym / amenity floors, package room, and roof-deck access at suburban Chicagoland HOAs and city high-rises
  • Property management portfolios — centralized cloud admin across multiple buildings, including suburban Chicagoland HOAs (Wilmette, Glencoe, Highland Park, Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Naperville, Wheaton, Oak Brook)
  • Healthcare clinics and outpatient facilities — staff entries, medical records rooms, supply storage
  • Small-to-mid commercial buildings with 2–40 total doors deployed across multiple panels
  • Hospitality back-of-house, manager office, and storage area access at boutique hotels and restaurants
  • Education administrative office, registrar, IT, and classroom-cluster access
  • Construction site offices — rapid commissioning for short-term project access without a server install

Migration from Legacy ACS-300

If your building runs the older Brivo ACS-300, the ACS300-E-B is a drop-in replacement on the cloud side — the same Brivo Access dashboard, the same credentials, the same audit trails. Field-side, the ACS300-E-B uses the same 12 V DC power, the same OSDP / Wiegand reader wiring, and the same lock-output relays — most upgrades are a swap-and-rewire, not a re-cable. We typically replace ACS-300 panels during a scheduled controller refresh or when the panel firmware is no longer receiving security updates.
