Hanwha CGA-1610 — Cloud Gateway Bridging On-Premises Cameras to OnCloud Camera-to-Cloud VMS

The Hanwha CGA-1610 is a 16-channel Cloud Gateway Appliance from Hanwha Vision’s Wisenet CloudConnector line — purpose-built to bridge existing on-premises IP cameras into Hanwha’s OnCloud Camera-to-Cloud VMS platform without requiring per-camera CloudConnector functionality and without replacing the existing camera fleet. Features include 16-channel capacity, up to 8 MP per channel, Hanwha + third-party ONVIF camera compatibility, dual power architecture (12 VDC + PoE++), Hanwha cybersecurity posture (secure boot, signed firmware, signed video), and NDAA Section 889 + TAA compliance. The single-appliance answer for Chicago commercial properties moving from on-premises VMS to cloud-direct video.

Why a Cloud Gateway Instead of Per-Camera CloudConnector

Hanwha’s premium AI cameras (e.g. PNO-A9081R, XNV-A9084R, PNM-C12083RVD) include native CloudConnector firmware that connects each camera directly to Hanwha OnCloud — no on-premises NVR or gateway needed. But most existing camera fleets don’t have that native cloud capability:

  • Older Hanwha cameras (Q-series, A-series, pre-CloudConnector P-series, X-series)
  • Third-party ONVIF IP cameras (Axis, Hanwha-pre-Cloud, generic ONVIF brands)
  • Mixed-vendor sites with cameras from multiple generations and brands

Replacing all those cameras to gain cloud capability is expensive. The CGA-1610 is the alternative: a single appliance bridges up to 16 on-premises cameras into the OnCloud platform — preserving the existing camera investment while delivering cloud-VMS access.

What the CGA-1610 Enables

  • Centralized cloud access to all 16 cameras from any browser / mobile device
  • OnCloud features — cloud recording, cloud-side analytics, multi-site dashboards, role-based access, audit trails
  • Reduced on-premises IT footprint — no on-site NVR-class server for cloud-VMS access
  • Per-property scaling — deploy one CGA-1610 per property in a multi-property fleet, each bridging its local camera fleet to the same cloud-VMS account
  • Cybersecurity — Hanwha signed firmware + signed video provides cryptographic chain-of-custody for cloud-stored evidence
  • Mixed-vendor support — Hanwha + ONVIF third-party cameras all bridge through one appliance

When the CGA-1610 Is the Right Pick (vs. an On-Premises NVR)

NeedOn-premises NVR (ARN-1610S)CGA-1610 (this)

On-site IT footprintNVR + storage + UPSCompact gateway only

Best fitSingle property, on-premisesMulti-property, cloud-VMS, mixed-vendor

The CGA-1610 is the right pick when cloud-VMS access matters more than on-premises storage — common for multi-property managers, regional retail chains, healthcare systems, education districts, and property-management firms managing multiple Chicago-area locations.

Where the CGA-1610 Wins in Chicago

  • Multi-property property management — bridging existing camera fleets at multiple Chicagoland buildings into a single cloud-VMS account for centralized access
  • HOA cloud-video adoption without replacing existing camera investment at suburban Chicagoland HOAs
  • Retail multi-location cloud-VMS — neighborhood retail chains, shopping center property managers, multi-store franchise operations
  • Healthcare multi-clinic / multi-hospital systems — cloud-VMS consolidation across Northwestern Memorial, Rush, U of C Medicine, Loyola Medical, suburban hospitals + outpatient locations
  • Education district consolidation — Chicago Public Schools and suburban district cloud-VMS
  • Banking multi-branch surveillance — community bank chains, credit union networks across Chicagoland
  • Industrial / warehouse with remote monitoring requirements
  • Hospitality multi-property — boutique hotel chains, restaurant groups
  • Government and municipal multi-building consolidation

Local Chicago Coverage

Vidimost installs the CGA-1610 across the full Chicago metropolitan area — downtown Loop, North Shore (Evanston, Wilmette, Winnetka, Glencoe, Highland Park, Lake Forest), Northwest suburbs (Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Arlington Heights, Palatine, Buffalo Grove), West suburbs (Oak Brook, Naperville, Wheaton, Lombard, Downers Grove), and South suburbs.

For mixed-vintage camera fleets the CGA-1610 bridges:

  • Older Hanwha Q-series and A-series IP cameras (without native CloudConnector)
  • Pre-CloudConnector Hanwha P-series and X-series cameras
  • Third-party ONVIF cameras (Axis, generic brands)

For new premium AI positions added at the same project:

  • Hanwha PNO-A9081R — 4K AI bullet with native CloudConnector (connects directly to OnCloud, no gateway needed for these)

Migration Architecture

The cleanest cloud-VMS architecture for Chicago multi-property fleets:

  1. Deploy CGA-1610 at each property with existing non-CloudConnector cameras — bridges to OnCloud
  2. Specify CloudConnector cameras for new positions (e.g. PNO-A9081R) — connect directly to OnCloud, bypassing the gateway
  3. Centralize access in a single OnCloud account across all properties
  4. Phase-out old cameras over time as they fail; eventually the CGA-1610 may handle fewer cameras as the fleet becomes CloudConnector-native
