Taiwan’s Veteran Surveillance Platform

GeoVision Inc. was founded in 1998 in Taipei, Taiwan, and was one of the earliest companies to develop PC-based video surveillance systems. In the early 2000s, GeoVision’s capture cards and Windows-based VMS software were a popular and affordable entry point for businesses adopting digital surveillance. The company has since expanded into IP cameras, NVRs, access control, and analytics.

GeoVision products have been installed in commercial properties worldwide, including many Chicago buildings that adopted digital surveillance in the 2005–2015 era. While newer platforms from Hanwha, Axis, and others have become the go-to for new installations, existing GeoVision systems continue to operate in many properties.

Existing Systems in Chicago

We service and maintain existing GeoVision installations, including camera replacements, NVR upgrades, and VMS configuration. For properties running aging GeoVision infrastructure, we provide migration assessments and phased upgrade plans to current-generation platforms.

GeoVision DVRs: the Legacy We Migrate

GeoVision capture cards and DVRs powered a whole generation of Chicago storefront systems. Most that we meet now are past their best — Windows XP-era machines quietly recording to dying drives. The footage matters, so the migration has to be careful.

Our standard play: stabilize the existing recorder, pull retention that needs preserving, then move the property to a modern recorder while reusing coax via encoders or replacing runs where they’ve corroded. The camera upgrade service page shows the phased approach.
