UPS for Security Systems

Rack-mount uninterruptible power supply units that protect NVRs, PoE switches, and recording infrastructure from power outages and electrical surges.

Security systems that lose power lose their ability to record, control doors, and protect the building. A properly sized UPS keeps cameras recording, doors secured, and switches online during outages — and protects sensitive equipment from the voltage spikes and sags that cause premature hardware failure.

Vidimost sizes every UPS based on measured power draw and the client’s required runtime. We install network management cards for remote monitoring and include battery replacement in our maintenance programs so backup power is always ready when it matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

What UPS capacity do I need for a security equipment rack? +
A typical security rack with a 24-port PoE switch, an NVR, and a gateway draws 300 to 600 watts. A 1500VA line-interactive UPS provides 15 to 25 minutes of runtime at that load — enough to ride through brief outages or allow a graceful NVR shutdown to protect recordings.
Should I use a line-interactive or online UPS for security equipment? +
Line-interactive UPS units handle 95% of commercial security installations. They offer fast transfer times (2-4ms), voltage regulation, and pure sine wave output. Online (double-conversion) UPS is reserved for mission-critical facilities where zero transfer time is required.
