UPS for Access Control Systems

Compact UPS units designed to protect access control panels, lock power supplies, and credential servers from power loss and voltage fluctuations.

Security systems that lose power lose their ability to record, control doors, and protect the building. A properly sized UPS keeps cameras recording, doors secured, and switches online during outages — and protects sensitive equipment from the voltage spikes and sags that cause premature hardware failure.

Vidimost sizes every UPS based on measured power draw and the client’s required runtime. We install network management cards for remote monitoring and include battery replacement in our maintenance programs so backup power is always ready when it matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a UPS if my access control power supply already has battery backup? +
Yes. The access control power supply battery backs up the locks and panel, but the access control server or workstation typically has no battery backup. A UPS protects the management side of the system — the software, database, and communication equipment — from outages and data corruption.
Can a small UPS protect both the access control panel and the lock power supply? +
In many cases, yes. A 1000VA to 1500VA compact UPS can power both an access control panel and its associated lock power supply. Vidimost calculates the combined load and required runtime to select the right unit for each closet.
