Johnson Controls Security in Chicago Buildings

One of the largest building technology companies in the world — with systems installed in Chicago properties that we service and upgrade.

Milwaukee Roots, Global Building Technology

Johnson Controls was founded in 1885 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, by Warren Johnson, who invented the electric room thermostat. The company grew over more than a century into one of the world’s largest building technology and automation companies, eventually merging with Tyco International in 2016 to create Johnson Controls International plc (NYSE: JCI), now headquartered in Cork, Ireland.

The Tyco merger brought together Johnson Controls’ building automation expertise with Tyco’s security and fire protection portfolio, which included brands like DSC (intrusion detection), Kantech (access control), exacqVision (video management), American Dynamics (cameras and VMS), and Software House (C-CURE access control). The combined entity manages security, fire, HVAC, and building automation for some of the largest commercial properties and campuses worldwide.

Key Products Under the JCI Umbrella

C-CURE 9000 — Enterprise access control platform (from the Software House brand) widely deployed in corporate headquarters, hospitals, and government buildings.

exacqVision — VMS platform supporting multi-vendor cameras in commercial and enterprise environments.

DSC PowerSeries — Commercial and residential intrusion detection panels, including the widely deployed DSC Neo series.

American Dynamics Illustra — Camera lineup for integration with exacqVision and other JCI platforms.
